Le Bataclan
A 1,500 seats theater, built a century ago, and so Parisien with its Art
Deco look...

A quite modest sign outside this club announced that night's show.
The Bataclan used to be a very popular venue in the late 60s and early 70s, when the French national TV recorded in this joint some concerts for the famous "POP2". I had seen MC5 and Jeff Beck with Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert there, and later The Pretenders, Howard Devotto, Bryan Ferry and many others.
The Rolling Stones themselves were strongly rumoured to play in this venue last spring (date was supposed to be may 7th), but this concert was cancelled because of the rescheduling of some american shows (Syracuse, Toronto, Montreal) in the winter.

We came in at 4:30 pm. The equipment was ready, but no musician in sight yet...

Bill's red Steinberger bass. He still has the biggest amp in the band, but not a Vox
anymore ;-)
